I find myself amused by the minor defects in the advancements of technology. A simple communication as my Mom leaving me a voicemail in Farsi is transcribed into a foreign message. There is humor in the fact that this advanced and convenient technological tool is unable to perform properly because of the change in language. As a result a new narrative is created through this iPhone transcription and I find myself trying to make sense of this new mismatched message. While my Mom is trying to reach through and be heard.
I see myself as an observer. I watch, listen, and record my environment. I have observed the constant stream of videos on various social media outlets and their instant accessibility. The stream of videos on social media have become a norm and only when there is a glitch, I notice it's imperfection. I’ve captured moments of perfection as I walk around the the Outer Sunset Neighborhood in San Francisco. Where the colors of the houses differ from each other but live in harmony.

I am most influenced by the objects and shapes I see daily, and the environments I place myself in constantly. I create paintings using my own drawings of objects identifiable to me and randomly collage them over images of specific locations in the City, that are a significance to my weekly routine. I used to work at a patisserie shop in San Francisco and during that time many of the items displayed at the shop, such as croissants, brioche tarts, chocolate chip cookies and macaroons, became part of my visual vocabulary and daily life. I interacted with these intricate delightful pastries so much that I so often dreamt about them. No specific pastry visits me in my dreams, but rather I feel as if they all float around my head constantly. In this work I have a random selection of these pastries floating around over different locations in the City. The image transfers, like my dreams, are not always so clear but leave little hints of what they are. I formulate a relationship between the recognizable pastries and the common locations in San Francisco that are special to me. I feel a connection to both subjects; one is confined in my thoughts as I go about my day and the other uplifts my routines and reminds me, I am at home.
